My "Must Haves" for 2009!

I was wandering around the house playing with my new camera (Thanks Ross!) and decided it would be fun to make a list of all of my "Must Haves" I thought I couldn't live with out in 2009! In about 5 years from now I will look back and laugh at this I'm sure:)

I don't know if any of you have ever tried this but it is amazing I love my Natural Source Minerals make-up, and the best thing about it is it's made right here in Utah-can't beat that!

I have my Ipod EVERYWHERE I go, I love music and can't stand to be anywhere and not have music playing so it sticks by my side... Yeah those earphones are the cheapo's they give you on an airplane, I've lost my good ones, they work the same!

A good purse, ok it doesn't have to be a "good" purse, just a cute one!

I HATE shopping for jeans so when I find a good pair, I stick to them...I freaking love a good worn out pair of Big Stars there is nothing better than my favorite pair and a warm hoody:)
I know it's not the 80's anymore but Oakley has come along way since then and has came out with some way cute new shades! Ross started my addiction when he gave me the copper ones for Valentines Day, sunglasses are another item I don't leave the house with. Crows feet are caused by squinting and I do not need premature wrinkles LOL!!

Ross & I started watching Nascar at the beginning of the 2009 season. We then went to the Las Vegas Race in February and then to the Talladega race in October, we are addicted! The last race ended in November for the 2009 season and I will tell you it's been pretty boring around the house with out a Sunday race to watch every week...Can't wait for the Vegas race again in February, NASCAR is definitely something Ross and I enjoyed in 2009:)

We got our Wii last year on New Years Eve and have so much fun making fun of each other trying to do some of the games, I got Ross Cabella's Big Game Hunter for Christmas and I can't get him and his friends away from it!

My loves of 2009 also included

*Diet Coke ~if you stop by my store you will see I have one behind the counter, at my project table, at my nail table, everywhere I love it~ That's something I'm trying to give up but I'm finding it hard to do:)

*Lady Gaga~She's crazy but I LOVE all of her songs!

*Sandy Ranch~Ok so Ross & I have been married for almost 7 years and I up until this last year I have despised Sandy Ranch just because it takes my husband away from me so much, but this year I spent alot more time down there and now I know why Ross loves it down there, it is so beautiful and peaceful!

*Jewelry~I love making it, love wearing it, love selling it! It has been so fun to design new ideas and can't thank everyone enough for such great support you guys are awesome!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

I changed my tree this year to something different, but still incorporated the gold Ross & I had on our very first tree (just can't bring myself to get rid of it...) I think I'm fairly pleased with it! It's not anything you would find in Tai Pan
but it fits my style:)

Oh and if you notice the bottom of the tree looks pretty sad, that's because of my husband and our dog thinking they must play fetch in the house!! After about the sixth time of redecorating the bottom I just said forget it...
And yes my husband makes fun of me because EVERY present MUST match the tree, so no I will not be needing that complimentary wrapping at Christensen's because it won't match!

Christmas is getting SOOO close and I can't wait, 4:00 am here we come, Ross hates it when I wake him up so early but I get so darn excited...Merry Christmas everyone, have a great Holiday!

My New Purse Passion!!

I'm sure everyone has seen these things...ahh I love them:) As much as I'm changing purses these are perfect! I've seen them before a while ago actually like a year ago and what do you know ppl are just starting to warm up to them here in WC! The best part is you will pay only a fraction of the price you would pay for let's say a Dooney or a Louis (learned the hard way:)
This BIG bag will definitely be on my wish list this year! Ahhh.....In Love!

TALLADEGA Nights!! :WARNING: Long Post!

When Ross said "We need a vacation, but I would like to stay in the United States, so get us something lined up!" My first thought was visiting Hawaii again but I'm all about seeing new places! A few of us had always talked about going to Talladega to watch "the big one!" So we finally made it a reality... and the rest is history:)
After all the delays getting us out there I was starting to wonder if this was just not meant to be...
1. We hit a deer in our new truck just days before we were to leave

2. It took us 2 hrs from Loa to Richfield because of the snow storm to drop off our truck at the auto body shop on our way out of town

3. After leaving Richfield and heading South to Las Vegas to catch our flight it took us 3 hrs from Richfield to Cedar City because of this snow storm!

Top speeds reached into the whopping 20's

4.After finally reaching Las Vegas and having about 4 hrs of sleep we hurried to the airport to catch our flight at 7:15 well it was delayed until 8:45 because of weather in Dallas, TX (at this point I was really getting frustrated!)

5. Ok we are finally in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport just in time to catch our connection to Birmingham, well the plane we were suppose to board got hit by lightening and blew out the navigation beacon...they tried to fix it and put us on it!

6.After a 4 hour delay in the Fort Worth airport they finally decided to put us on a different plane and get us to Birmingham, so our original flight was suppose to touch down in Birmingham at 5:15 we didn't get there until 8:45! That was a weird flight, we went through a thunderstorm I was freaked out and thought we were all going to die! And even funnier the ppl seated across from us were from Salina, UT headed to the same race, what are the odds?

Phewwww........

All that BS was worth it, we had the best time!

Entrance to the Talladega Superspeedway
It was so "Redneck" we were laughing every minute at something. I thought this was funny they pulled the tram from the in-field by tractor, that's not normal.

We met this cute girl at the airport in Fort Worth, she works for SPEED t.v. as a promoter and told us to stop by the set to say Hi! This was Saturday on Halloween, it was a little crazy that day with everyone dressed up running around!
Saturday at the Camping World Truck Race-View from our seats!

Just like a kid in a candy store! Ross got to meet his driver AJ Allmendinger, no worries we had to leave our hotel by 6:15 Sunday morning so we could be there in time to see him. Ross was ecstatic!

We lucked out on Sunday the weather was amazing, a great day for a fall race!

As you can see from the leader board, my guy #9 took 2nd! We had 2 awesome wrecks one of which was right at the end, and happened right in front of us!

Race & Andrea are so fun, we had a great time and are planning the next race to go to!

Alabama is a beautiful state, lots of rolling hills covered in trees. It was a great trip once we finally made it out there, the ppl are so friendly & nice!

~Fall Projects~

You know when you finish a project and you are so excited about it and you go to your husband and say "Look what I did!" all excited hoping for a "Wow, that looks great!" and instead you get a man answer of "Hmm" Well that irritates the hell out of me! So here are a few projects I've been working on lately that all got the "hmm" answer:)

I have this spot in my bedroom that has been neglected and needed to be filled, it is still a work in progress but looks a lot better, this is the before picture (Yucky old brown, nasty chair!)

And here is the "after" way better on the eyes!

These old chairs were in the house Ross bought in Cedar and some how they've managed to make it through all of our moves, glad we saved them now! All this little corner needs now is a cute table and lamp.

And this little beauty is going to adorn my dining room table all fall, I'm getting better at the binding thing, who am I kidding it's going to take me a while to get the sewing thing down:)And on my free weekend I finally went through all my jewelry, purged & organized. It looks so much better and now I can wear that jewelry that I forgot I even had (did I mention I LOVE jewelry?)

And this little delight I have yet to finish, I think it will turn into a wall hanging, I love it! I can stitch but it's finishing my stitching projects that I have a hard time with...

Fall projects are the best! You get to stay inside where it's nice and cozy, and it's even better when you get to share those afternoons with your sisters & your mom!

Hunting time+Craft projects=Typical Fall Day!

Did I mention I LOVE this time of year? Spending time with my husband hunting in the mountains, working on projects that have been neglected all summer, and just plain relaxing indoors, the scents, the crisp morning air, ahh love it!!

Ross harvested this 4 point last Friday, it was so fun, just the two of us, well until we had to figure out how to get it in the truck, that was a joke! I have NEVER seen a deer with a body that big, I've seen elk smaller and I'm not exaggerating!! It's amazing what a little adrenaline will do.Sorry if the blood & guts makes you a little wheezy, it's one of the only 2 pictures I got of this deer which really angers me, I can't believe I didn't get a shot of the big body!! By the time we got home Friday it was 10:00, everyone was in bed and there was no one around to help hang it so we ended up quartering it in the back of the truck and hanging it in the garage, looked pretty gross after we were done...

Well he was really hoping it was going to be wider than mine I killed on my last hunt but it fell an 1" short of mine, sorry Ross:) However this deer was a lot taller, had more mass and is very symmetrical it measured in at 27 1/2" wide and Hyrum who is learning how to score horns scored it at a 170 (green score) so I guess not bad? I can't believe it's still in the velvet, all the others that were with it were shined off, maybe because it was so fat & big? Well hopefully I can top this one on the rifle hunt, it will be hard but that's my goal:)

In Moquie Territory...

Well the wedding is over, 2 weekends later. It was beautiful and so was my sis! Last weekend we headed over the mountain to Escalante where Lori & Derek celebrated with an open house.
1 hour before the open house, which was outside it was pouring, but we all held our breath and just about 10 min before it started the clouds opened up and this is a snap shot I got of a double rainbow back behind the old barn. If you know me, then you know how I feel about rainbows:)
The weather that evening was absolutely beautiful, a perfect fall evening...
Sadly this is the only photo I have of any of the event. I was to busy helping or standing in line to be snapping pictures. After the Open House all of us gathered together with there friends from Escalante and had a true celebration, did I mention we love the Woolsey's they are a great family, they are a lot like our family and we all mesh really well together.
Just the girls, in this photo, me, Amanda, Tara, Candis, Erica, Dace, & Lori. Dace couldn't let us have all the fun so of course he had to jump in at the last minute, DORK!

Dream it, Design it, Sale it!

www.treschicjewelrydesigns.blogspot.com
Check out my newly designed jewelry blog. A glimpse of some of the items I carry in my new line "Tres Chic Designs." Tres Chic is French for "Very Fashionable" which I find suits my jewelry well. Jewelry is something my family has been doing for years, my great-grandfather made jewelry out of about everything, he then passed his passion on down to my Grandmother and then onto my father, although the way I make it has changed substantially from there methods with raw silver & turquoise they had bought from the Indians, it still is an art and I truly enjoy creating everyday, even better now me & my father share something we are both passionate about, he is teaching me much about everything he has learned throughout the years and I am thankful everyday I am able to share with him.
All of my creations are available at my store, if you haven't stopped by, or haven't been in for a while I suggest you stop by, we have a lot of new things and the store has a new look:)

The Past two months in review!

Ok so I know I've been a slacker at updating my blog lately, but my life has been CRAZY up until now I've been one busy lady!! Here is what I've been up to...

Ross & I kicked off the summer on Memorial Weekend by camping with our friends on Boulder, of course it rained, like it does every time we camp on Boulder, but it sure was fun!
We fished, rode 4-wheelers, and played a ton of horseshoes... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also kept myself busy during the week by gathering a team of women for the Richfield city softball league where we traveled every Thursday to Richfield to play 2 games.

Ok so I will admit we weren't the best team over there, ok actually we were pretty sad! But I can guarantee that we had the most fun out of all the teams!! Thanks BBC for sponsoring us. I hope we didn't totally give your company a bad name dad:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the mean time Ross & I had our driveway & BBQ patio finished (finally!) Jesse & Micah (Flan Brothers Construction) did an awesome job stamping & coloring it, thanks guys!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On June 5th I celebrated my 26th birthday, which was a tough one for me, I kind of had a little freak out moment... After lying in bed thinking... I need to have babies I will be 45 by the time my first one graduates...I have to grow up now and be an adult....I am no longer in the 18-25 age group...I should be staying home doing "grown-up" things...I only have like 65 years max to live, am I going to get to do everything I want to? And then of course my much older & wiser mother told me the best years of her life was in her 40's and the best is yet to come, I was able to breath and push forward to the future. So I went out with my husband and friends and lived in the moment...
I love those summer nights spent on Fishlake eating at Bowery and then taking the long way home and enjoying this beautiful area we live in!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And aww the weddings start, headed on down to Cedar City where I attended one of my very good friends wedding, she looked so beautiful and it was an amazing wedding, Congrats Crystalina we love you!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Then from one end of the state to the other! I headed to Spanish Fork for another friends bridal shower. And then after the bridal shower off to Provo for a Bachelorette party I will NEVER forget...Who knew Provo could be so fun and that they had the best night club I have EVER been to! Pretty sure I should keep my blog rated at least PG-13 so that's all I'm going to say about that night, just glad the bouncers were taking care of us!
One more bridal shower for Ashley given at my house, which by the way I am so not a betty, I try to be a good hostess but it totally freaks me out trying to entertain people and well cooking for them is a whole other thing, luckily my wonderful mom swoops in to save the day AGAIN, I love you mom!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And well as most of you already know both of my parents are survivors of that blasted thing we call cancer, my father overcame colon cancer in 2005, and my mother overcame breast cancer in 2006, so for the past 3 years we have made the Relay For Life an annual event we attend and raise money for. If you are not familiar with the event you should get to know more about it and the American Cancer Society. This year, our team along with many other teams walked around the Richfield track from 6:00 pm-6:00 am and helped to earn $49,000 for the American Cancer Society. It is a fun event with fun things going on all night, this year we made cotton candy, marshmallow guns, jewelry, aprons, cookbooks, and many other items to sale at the relay, all of which was donated to the American Cancer Society, it is an amazing opportunity to show your support for those fighting cancer, who have fought cancer, or those that have lost the battle to cancer...
This is the survivor lap, everyone in purple shirts has survived or is fighting cancer, the sad part that you can't see is the track was completely looped with purple shirts.

My parents have shown me the ultimate meaning of COURAGE & HOPE. They have battled through some pretty scary stuff and all the while being light hearted and keeping a sense of humor this all has made our family stronger and closer, God works in mysterious ways?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well I've now updated up until July I will add more post about my happenings in July when I have more time, hopefully it won't be such a long post next time!
A dAy at ThE LaKe!!
Last week at the last minute we decided to go to Lake Powell and do some fishing, and some wake boarding, but the water was still a little cold do be doing that but the weather was PERFECT! I didn't do much fishing I was happy with just lounging in the sun, since you can see from the picture it was MUCH needed! I debated on posting this picture because I am so pasty white! And don't pay any attention to the hair I was wearing a sun hat so of course I have nice hat hair!
And ohhh.... the soon to be newlyweds! How cute!
"Do You Have a Little Captain in You?" If you have seen the commercials then you know what I'm talking about and why he's posing like a dork! I love my man....
All in all this trip was a much needed vaca. We decided to jump in and go because pretty much from here until August all 4 of us are busy! And all winter we have longed for that lazy day on the lake, hopefully we can squeeze another trip in again when the water is warmer and we can do some playing in it!
Congrats lil sis!!
So my youngest sisters is graduating this afternoon from college, which makes me feel REALLY old because I still feel like I should be in college! I'm so proud of her and all that she has accomplished, especially passing those state boards, people may think it's a walk in the park but it's not, it's very nerve wracking having 2 or 3 different people watching your EVERY move while you do your thing and then scoring you on it!! So good job Lori we are all so proud of you! Now comes the crappy part, life starts and you have to go out and be an adult and get a real job and cut the apron strings, which I know is going to be a hard transition for her but she is a strong person and knows what she wants so she will do great!-Luv ya Lori!
I think SpRinG is here, but I'm not sUrE?
So I know it's been forever since I've posted anything, this month has been CRAZY! And to think it's just going to get busier from here until about September!! These are a few things I've been up to!
Our family Easter trip down to little Egypt started off early Saturday morning with mom & aunt PJ braiding EVERYONE's hair I love this picture, although we did get teased slightly from the men saying we looked like those big families down by Colorado City!
I don't know why I don't have like a zillion pictures from Easter, very unusual behavior for me, but I guess I was to caught up living in the moment:)
All of us cousin's made the little Egypt loop, it was actually nice on Sunday!
Check OUt this BeAuty!!
Yeah just what I wanted in my yard, a flippn' 40' long bright blue metal container! "Oh nobody will notice it Kaylin, can we get one?" Those were the words I heard about two days before Ross & Josh showed up at the house to unload this unsightly thing...
I guess now we can get all of Ross' plumbing parts & pipe out of our garage and retake the garage as Ross & Kaylin's and not "Fillmore Plumbings!"
